One step further / A fond!

I changed gear in Chinese... I ordered the grocery online... in Chinese! I hope we get food this week! Je suis passée à la vitesse supérieure... j'ai passé ma commande hebdomadaire... en chinois. J'espère qu'on aura à manger ce week-end !

Read on the BBC today: "Brain function can start declining 'as early as age 45" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16425522)... well that leaves me one year (and two months) to still hope to learn Chinese. And I can't use yet my declining brain function...

Gaofang

Read in today's newspaper: "Jinbu in winter and kill a tiger in spring." It is the season to eat gaofang (herbal paste) as "reinforcing therapy" (jinbu) and store yang (hot) energy for the winter. The selection of herbs depend on each patient's condition....

完美 Literally "finished - beautiful" ... it means "perfect"! Les deux caractères "fini" et "beau" ensemble veulent dire "parfait". Explicite, non ?

number language / langue des chiffres

Numbers have meanings in Chinese - either auspicious (6, 8...) or unfavourable (4, 7...) depending how they sound (4= death for instance). Chinese youth also use numbers to chat online: 88= baba = bye bye 520 = wo ai ni = I love you 7878= qu ba qu ba...
